My 2019 Travel Bucket List
Let’s dive right into this.
I’m going to be upfront with you all. I only discovered this heaven on earth after the Revolve models descended upon it, and it has been on my list since. Amangiri, a luxe, luxe, LUXE resort out in Canyon Point, Utah, offers it all. You can satisfy your desert aesthetic dreams (bring v neutral tones to Insta your experience, obviously). You can swim in a pool that has been chiseled around ancient rock, which you didn’t realize was an aquatic life experience you needed until now. You can turn your phone off (gasp) and escape it all and go star gazing. Being out in the middle of nowhere has it’s perks apparently. The resort is a few hours away from a lot of desert destinations that have been on my list. Check off Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, Monument Valley and the Navajo Slot Canyons. Amangiri, with all it has to offer, comes in hot at Number 1 for this bucket list!
I lived in California for seven years. Seven years of being road trip distance from Big Sur and I never made it up, the tragedy! My goal this year is to live some life, and to say yes to myself more, and Post Ranch Inn has been a big YES that needs to be said. Nestled into the rolling hills, the Inn overlooks the Pacific. You can sit by the fire place with a book and read by the ocean, does it get any more perfect than that? This stretch of coastal California has been on my bucket list for literally ever, and I’m ready to have my own Big Little Lies moment. Just imagine all the moody poetry writing and mystery solving to be had by the sea. Get me some Cab Sav, it’s time.
I’ve been meaning to save the Almalfi Coast for my honeymoon, but why wait for your dream man when you can just got have your own dream vacation, amirite ladies? Fresh ocean air, vibrant colors, and some hot Italian fisherman named Fabio (probably). This is the Almalfi Coast that I want. I imagine I’ll live on olives and wine, and Fabio will sing to me the songs of his people. I mean, it could happen, and either way I’m going. Santa Caterina has a pool that you can lounge in over the ocean. Bright, open rooms with Italian sunlight pouring into them. Am I painting the right picture, because I’m living this fantasy.
I just want to spa. That is all I really want in life. I want to observe all of nature’s glory and be in a spa. Hotel Union, a luxurious hotel and spa in a town in Norway with way too many vowels (Gerainger) has you overlooking the Fjords from a heated pool. All of the hotel’s photos feature happy Norwegians smiling at each other and laughing. They are all drinking spa water, and they are all definitely thinking about how much better Scandinavians are at the spa life than Americans are. Well it seems to be true. Hotel Union is simply stunning, and lets the scenery do the talking. Bucket list.
This year, I actually am going to Aspen for the best thing on earth I will ever experience, and that is the “Big Gay Ice Show.” Yes it’s a thing, and yes my life is complete. First things first, while I can ski, I apres ski way better, so the hotel vibe and view is obviously very important to me. I’m in luck because I have an Aspen local helping me navigate the mountain, my Olympic teammate Jeremy Abbott. While I was researching my bucket list I texted him some options. I asked him what hotel had the better drinks, which had the best view, and which had the most casually pretentious guests. Hotel Jerome kept popping up as the most obvious option for all of the above. With a stunning interior, the hotel is styled in a way that makes you think you just might run into Walt Whitman, you know, if he were into the bougie ski scene.
